The Markets is an in-game environment developed for VulcanVerse, part of the Arcadia Quadrant—a world of myth, daily ritual, and ancient culture. This scene captures the essence of a working open-air market, filled with edible goods like meats, bread, produce, and woven baskets. Designed to evoke both grounded realism and stylized charm, the marketplace serves as a social and economic hub within the game world.

The project focused on creating a functional and optimized gameplay environment without sacrificing visual richness. Each asset was handcrafted to reflect the lived-in nature of Arcadia, using bespoke texturing and modular workflows to support reusability and performance in a large-scale open-world MMO.

Responsibilities & Workflow
- Modeling, UV mapping, retopology, and texturing of all food props, market stalls, furniture, and structural elements by Katerina Valma
- Emphasis on edible prop detailing – including stylized meat cuts, baked goods, and packaging, all with custom materials and roughness variation
- Optimized all assets for real-time performance, including efficient LOD creation and lightmap UVs
- Sole creator for all aspects: modeling, UV mapping, retopology, texturing, lighting, and scene layout
- Focus on creating high-detail, hand-crafted props (bread, meats, baskets, crates) using stylized materials
- Scene assembled with a modular workflow and composed to guide the viewer through layers of visual storytelling
